After Differentiating into an O, Pampered by an A - Chapter 41
Ye Xing’s wrist was gripped firmly, her chest pressed against a soft cloud as their breaths mingled.
At such close proximity, every feature was magnified. Looking at Shen Yushu’s stunning face, Ye Xing couldn’t help but feel her heart race once again. Tonight, she had actually blushed and felt her heart flutter several times because of Shen Yushu’s teasing.
Ultimately, she blamed this feeling on her body being in a “special period.”
“This is a bit too close. Alright, I smell it—rum cake. It’s definitely more ‘Alpha’ than my milky scent.” Ye Xing averted her gaze, her voice slightly tight as she deliberately masked the emotions in her eyes.
But Shen Yushu caught it anyway.
Wanting to tease her a little more, Shen Yushu’s red lips curled into a playful arc. “Does it smell good?”
Feeling the grip on her wrist loosen slightly, Ye Xing immediately pulled her hand back, creating distance between them, and gave a dry laugh. “It smells good, it smells good.”
Seeing Ye Xing retreating like a startled kitten, Shen Yushu decided to let her off the hook. Her fair fingertips landed on her buttons, moving from top to bottom. She raised her long lashes, her voice soft and sexy: “Not going back yet? Do you really want to help me undress?”
Ye Xing immediately spun around on her heels. “Going, going right now.”
Shen Yushu nodded, grabbed her robe, and headed toward the bathroom. As she passed Ye Xing, the words drifted from her red lips: “Thanks for walking me back tonight.”
“It was on the way. Helping a neighbor is the right thing to do.”
Hearing Ye Xing’s polite formalities, Shen Yushu showed little expression, but she found the phrase “helping a neighbor” somewhat grating to the ear.
Ye Xing walked out of the bedroom and scooped up Little Grape from under the dining table. Just as she reached the entryway, she heard the lock outside engage.
Beep beep beep… The sound of a password being entered.
Ye Xing instantly rushed back into the room. “Shen Yushu! Someone is opening your lock. Could it be a thief?”
She burst back in without knocking or warning. Unexpectedly, she was met with the sight of Shen Yushu by the bathroom door.
Her snowy skin was as delicate as silk, and her voluminous long hair fell from her shoulders to her collarbones, partially veiling the rolling “peaks” of white. Ye Xing had never seen a scene so blood-pumping. She stood at the door as still as a wooden chicken, stunned by this display of ultimate allure.
“Meow~”
The sound of Little Grape snapped Ye Xing back to reality. She immediately held the cat up in her hands to cover her own eyes.
“I’m sorry! I… I didn’t know you…” Ye Xing’s face flushed red instantly. “Um, maybe wait a bit to shower? Go check it out first?”
As she spoke, the sound of the front door closing came from the living room. Suddenly, a gentle female voice rang out.
“Yushu, are you home?”
Ye Xing and Shen Yushu locked eyes. Shen Yushu showed no sign of panic; she grabbed the bathrobe nearby, threw it on, and tied the belt. She looked up to see Ye Xing mouthing a question.
Who is it?
“My mom.”
“Your mom—” Ye Xing’s eyes widened. “F—”
Shen Yushu narrowed her eyes. “Swearing?”
“No, no! I meant, your mom chose the worst possible time to show up—right when I was about to go home!”
Looking at Ye Xing’s complicated little expression, the corners of Shen Yushu’s lips lifted slightly. Actually, the timing seems quite perfect.
Shen Yushu composed herself, smoothed her hair, and said calmly, “Stay in the room. Don’t come out.”
Hearing this, Ye Xing scrambled onto the bedroom sofa and sat obediently, covering her own mouth with one hand and gently shielding Little Grape’s mouth with the other. Once the door closed, she couldn’t help but lean sideways to eavesdrop on the movement outside.
Her heart beat like a drum; she felt as guilty as a thief. It was lucky that it was Shen Yushu’s mother; if it had been a “little lover,” it would have been impossible to explain herself.
As time ticked by, perhaps due to the impending rut, a wave of drowsiness hit. Ye Xing’s eyelids began to fight, while Little Grape had already curled up on the carpet and started snoring.
Outside, Zhou Yaqing had happened to be passing by Jiangting and thought she’d check on her daughter. She had seen the photos online and had privately called Sun Xi to ask what was going on. Last time, Shen Yushu said she “had a woman” but didn’t elaborate. Seeing the photos was a surprise; the other party was an Alpha and a celebrity. She wanted to use this chance to dig for more info, as fan comments online aren’t always facts.
Shen Yushu guessed her mother’s intent. After the photo with Ye Xing had been on the hot search for half a day, it would be unnatural for the Shen family to remain silent. She didn’t expect her mother to come in person, though.
Since she had made the trip, Shen Yushu wouldn’t let her leave empty-handed. She poured a glass of water for Zhou Yaqing and handed it over slowly.
“Her name is Ye Xing. She lives next door. I like her.”
Zhou Yaqing hadn’t expected her daughter to see through her so easily. She gave an awkward smile. “Yushu, Mom isn’t here to interfere in your private life. I really just came to see—”
“Alright, Mom. I’m tired. You should go back and rest early too.”
After seeing Zhou Yaqing out, Shen Yushu returned to the bedroom. Pushing the door open, she saw Ye Xing fast asleep on her bed. The smile on her face deepened, her eyes filled with doting.
Ye Xing slept deeply. Even after Shen Yushu finished her shower, the girl showed no sign of waking. Shen Yushu sat by the bed drying her hair, looking at Ye Xing’s quiet, cute sleeping face. She couldn’t resist reaching out to poke the girl’s soft cheek.
In her sleep, Ye Xing began to have that familiar dream again. In the dream, soft, delicate fingertips traced her cheek before wandering further down. A faint, low moan escaped Ye Xing’s lips.
Hearing this, Shen Yushu immediately retracted her hand to avoid disturbing the girl’s dream. She let her rest and went to the guest room next door.
The Next Day.
Ye Xing opened her eyes and stared at the unfamiliar ceiling. Her brain was a fog for a few seconds before her pupils trembled and she bolted upright. She scanned the room, her brows knitting. “Holy crap! I actually slept at Shen Yushu’s place last night?”
She opened the bedroom door. The morning sun streamed through the floor-to-ceiling windows. Shen Yushu was leaning against the dining table holding Little Grape, a coffee cup in one hand and the cat in the other. The scene was far too fresh and beautiful.
“Shen Yushu, why didn’t you wake me up last night?” Ye Xing asked.
Shen Yushu took a sip of her fragrant coffee and said nonchalantly, “I called you, but you didn’t react. Perhaps my bed is just more comfortable; you slept very well.”
Hearing Shen Yushu’s serious tone, Ye Xing’s mind went to much less “serious” places. “So we slept in the same bed last night?”
Shen Yushu didn’t speak. Beneath her long lashes, a faint smile played. She set the cat on the floor and poured another cup of coffee. Looking at Ye Xing’s distressed face as she tried to process reality, Shen Yushu walked over slowly and said playfully, “Mm, we ‘slept’ together.” She paused for two seconds. “But I slept in that room.”
She pointed her long index finger toward the other bedroom door behind Ye Xing. Ye Xing took a long, deep breath and exhaled slowly.
Shen Yushu held the coffee out to her and asked softly, “Want some?”
Ye Xing shook her head gloomily. “No. Drinking coffee during a rut makes one even more hyper.” With that, she scooped up Little Grape and walked out the front door.
The moment she was back in her own home and the door closed, Ye Xing leaned against it, stunned. Is that woman Shen Yushu toxic? Why does my heart beat so restlessly every time I look at her or hear her speak?
Is it possible that during a rut, an Alpha can affect me just as much as an Omega? Too lazy to think further, she headed to the bathroom for a cold shower.
After Ye Xing left, Shen Yushu stood by her window, looking at the view while on the phone. She seemed to be in an excellent mood.
It was the weekend, and Sun Xi had slept in. When she opened her eyes, she saw a message from Shen Yushu and a bank transfer. Naturally, she cared about the money first; she rubbed her eyes and saw it was indeed from her boss. Confirming she wasn’t hallucinating, she opened WeChat.
[Shen Yushu: Thanks for your hard work, Assistant Sun.]
Sun Xi belatedly sent a question mark back, but received no further reply.
This was Ye Xing’s first real rut. She felt extremely lethargic, weak, and had no appetite. After returning from Shen Yushu’s place and showering, she went back to sleep. Ning Youyou had to wake her up at noon to take her to lunch.
Since she had promised Ding Ling to attend Ruan Nian’an’s wedding, she had to go out with Ding Ling in the afternoon to pick out a gift for the couple.
In the parking lot, Ye Xing went to her car to grab a bottle of inhibitor she’d left behind last night. Seeing this, Ning Youyou asked, “Sister Xing-xing, is your rut coming?”
Ye Xing nodded.
“Then can you still attend Screenwriter An’s wedding tomorrow?”
Ye Xing frowned. “Of course. It’s a rut, not a pregnancy. I’m not that weak.”
At the mall.
Ye Xing wore a hat and mask, browsing high-end shops with Ding Ling. They picked out a gift for the famous screenwriter—though they couldn’t afford an ultra-limited edition, they could pick freely from what was in the store. After buying the gift, they also bought something for Ning Youyou, who had been working hard lately.
As they prepared to head to another shop, they ran into an acquaintance. Shang Qing was walking with her new female companion. She narrowed her eyes as she recognized Ye Xing.
“Tsk, tsk, tsk. If it isn’t the big star Ye Xing. What a coincidence.” Shang Qing’s voice was dragged out and mocking. She handed her card to her companion. “Go on, buy whatever you like. I’ll find you later.” The woman disappeared instantly, thrilled.
Ding Ling, seeing it was Shang Qing, stepped forward with a smile. “President Shang, what a coincidence to see you shopping here.”
At the title “President Shang,” Shang Qing’s face darkened. Two weeks ago, she was President Shang. But after the failed attempt to date Ye Xing and running into Shen Yushu, her “useless” older sister Shang Ran had used some unknown means to get their father to revoke her General Manager position and order her to stay home.
An investigation revealed Shen Yushu was the one pullings strings in the background. Seeing Ye Xing now, Shang Qing’s mood soured. She stepped forward and pushed Ding Ling aside.
Looking into Ye Xing’s beautiful, exposed eyes, she gave a cold laugh. “Ye Xing, you don’t actually think that just because you clung to Shen Yushu’s leg, I can’t touch you? I’m telling you… cough, cough!”
Before she could finish her threat, she was suddenly shoved hard by a hand reaching out. She choked on her own saliva. Looking up, she saw Shen Yushu’s dark, icy eyes.
Ye Xing was stunned. “Shen Yushu?”
Shen Yushu didn’t respond to her; she just stared at Shang Qing, radiating a bone-chilling aura. “Shang Qing, do you need to be kicked out of the Shang family entirely before you learn some restraint?”
Shang Qing was furious. “Shen Yushu—!”
Before she could get a single insult out, she watched Shen Yushu grab Ye Xing’s hand and stride away.
Ye Xing’s eyes widened in confusion. Looking at Shen Yushu’s hand clamped around her wrist, she scanned their surroundings and said softly, “Shen Yushu, let me go.”
Shen Yushu didn’t look back, but her voice carried a cold, suppressed rage: “I’m not letting go. Who gave you permission to talk to Shang Qing?”
