A Max-Level Film Queen Takes on the Scumbag Alpha Script [Transmigration] - Chapter 50
The two of them stayed in the room for the entire afternoon, only coming out as evening approached.
Auntie had already helped pack their things for the hot spring villa. Jiang Baihe and Yan Shu only needed to bring a few personal items, as the villa would provide everything else.
After bidding farewell to Grandmother Yan, who stayed at the old manor, the two got into the car arranged by the Yan family and headed toward the hot spring resort. A fair number of Yan family members joined this excursion, mostly younger generation relatives whom Jiang Baihe didn’t recognize. A long line of luxury cars drove off in a grand procession, drawing envious looks from other drivers on the road.
Inside their car, Jiang Baihe propped her chin on her hand and turned to look at the snowy scenery outside. It was no longer snowing, and the sun was slowly sinking behind the mountains, leaving a golden afterglow that draped a golden cloak over the accumulated snow on the ground.
“Yan Jue and her family didn’t come this time; they all stayed at the old manor.”
Yan Shu turned off her phone screen and softly relayed the news she had just received. Regarding Yan Jue and Yan Xingyin’s group, she was on high alert, having dispatched specialists to keep an eye on them early on. If they behaved themselves, Yan Shu would spare them some face for the sake of Yan Xingyin being her nominal father. But if they plotted anything detrimental to the Yan family in the dark, she would not let them off easily.
Hearing this news made Jiang Baihe a bit happier. After all, no one wanted their New Year holiday interrupted by those people. However, she didn’t relax completely, asking with a frown, “If they stay at the old manor, they won’t do anything to Grandmother, will they?”
Yan Shu shook her head. “They don’t have that kind of courage.”
Not only were there other members of the Yan family staying at the manor, but since all the power of Sihai was currently in Yan Shu’s hands, there was no reason for Yan Jue’s family to target Grandmother. Furthermore, Grandmother Yan had plenty of security around her; if a fight actually broke out, Yan Jue’s family wouldn’t come out on top.
Yan Shu was about to say more, but her eyes caught a glimpse of exhaustion on Jiang Baihe’s face. She suppressed her original words and instead said, “The drive will take over an hour. If you’re tired, sleep for a bit.”
Jiang Baihe was startled, then rubbed her face with both hands. Between the chess matches with Grandmother and the long talk with Yan Shu in the room, she had indeed become sleepy once they got into the car. She thought she had hidden it well, but Yan Shu had seen right through her.
Yan Shu’s tone was very calm, as if it were just a friendly suggestion, but Jiang Baihe was well-acquainted with her and could naturally detect the underlying concern. Moved, Jiang Baihe leaned in closer and said with a light laugh, “Then I’ll rest for a moment. I wonder if Yan Yan would lend me a shoulder to lean on?”
Yan Shu shot a glance at Jiang Baihe but didn’t speak. Instead, she shifted her body outward, moving away from Jiang Baihe until she was nearly pressed against the car door.
Jiang Baihe stared blankly as Yan Shu moved, thinking to herself that even if she didn’t want to be leaned on, there was no need to run so far away—it wasn’t like she was a monster…
Before she could speak, she saw Yan Shu lightly pat the seat. “You can sleep [here].”
Jiang Baihe blinked and instantly understood. Yan Shu hadn’t been trying to dodge her; she was making space. With that thought, Jiang Baihe happily lay down on the seat, tentatively resting her head on Yan Shu’s lap. Seeing that Yan Shu didn’t react much, she comfortably used Yan Shu’s legs as a pillow.
Jiang Baihe thought this was the best possible outcome, but then a wave of warmth came from her temples. Someone was unhurriedly and gently massaging her temples with the pads of her fingers. Yan Shu seemed unfamiliar with such things, her movements holding a hint of hesitation, yet she did not withdraw her fingers.
Overjoyed, Jiang Baihe was about to open her eyes to look, but she felt Yan Shu lightly cover her eyelids with her palm, preventing her from opening them. Then, she heard Yan Shu say softly from above: “Sleep well.”
It felt as if fireworks were exploding in her heart. Jiang Baihe obediently kept her eyes closed, but the corners of her mouth couldn’t help but turn up. With a steady car, soft music, and a relaxing massage… in such a warm and comfortable environment, Jiang Baihe gradually sank into a sweet dream filled with joy.
A biting cold wind blew as the pale moon quietly climbed into the sky.
At the hot spring villa, Jiang Baihe and Yan Shu got out of the car together and followed a waiter toward their pre-arranged room. This resort was for vacationing and was managed by a collateral branch of the Yan family. Since City G was cold in the winter, many people chose to use their New Year holiday to soak in the springs and gather with friends, making business quite bustling.
Knowing their group was coming today, the manager had prepared rooms in advance and instructed the staff to provide top-tier hospitality. The resort featured both public pools and smaller private ones, along with various private suites.
Although the main Yan family was visiting today, the manager hadn’t cleared the entire resort. Instead, they just reserved specific areas. Thus, people were still coming and going; some were in bathrobes just coming out of the pools, while others were just arriving like them, eyes full of eagerness at the sight of the water.
Jiang Baihe and Yan Shu looked at the lively scene and had no desire to soak with others. They specifically requested a private suite with a small pool, intending to enjoy it privately later that night. Before soaking, the two took a stroll around the villa, admiring the snowy moonlit scenery and picking up some snacks.
Eating a hot takoyaki ball amidst the steamy atmosphere of the hot springs, Jiang Baihe couldn’t help but sigh—spending winter like this was truly a luxury.
The two rested in the room for a bit. Seeing that the time was right, they prepared to take a quick shower to clean up and get used to the water temperature to avoid being scalded by the spring later. As Jiang Baihe finished up and came out in her bathrobe, she heard the sound of water still running in the neighboring bathroom.
She thought for a moment and knocked on the bathroom door. The sound inside paused, and Yan Shu’s voice followed: “Is something wrong?”
“I’m going to order two glasses of fruit wine. Yan Yan, you can go directly to the pool area in a bit.”
“Okay.”
After calling out to Yan Shu, Jiang Baihe strolled out the door. She was playing on her phone, showing off her wonderful life in City G to Song Jia while thinking about how much she would enjoy tonight. Unintentionally, she suddenly heard her own name from a group of people ahead.
“No way, it’s been months and there’s still no mark? Is this Jiang Baihe just incompetent…?”
“What do you know? I heard… it’s a contract marriage… it’s all an act!”
The distance was a bit far, so Jiang Baihe couldn’t hear their entire conversation, but a few sensitive keywords immediately caught her attention. She looked ahead and finally saw two familiar-looking girls in the crowd; she likely had seen them at the New Year’s Eve dinner.
Although she had heard from Yan Shu that many in the family suspected their marriage wasn’t real, this was her first time actually encountering people discussing it to her face. Jiang Baihe twirled her phone, wondering if she should ignore it and discuss it with Yan Shu later, but the people ahead just got more carried away.
“If you ask me… she can’t even control her own pheromones… who knows what kind of messing around she’s doing on the outside!”
Hearing the two of them become increasingly unrestrained, even escalating to personal attacks, Jiang Baihe’s eyes went sharp. She stepped toward them. She reached out and tapped one of the girls on the shoulder: “Excuse me.”
The two girls turned their heads in surprise. Seeing it was Jiang Baihe, both wore expressions of terror. But Jiang Baihe ignored their nervousness, leaning down slightly and saying to them coldly:
“Yan Shu is mine.”
“How she and I interact usually is none of your business.”
