A Max-Level Film Queen Takes on the Scumbag Alpha Script [Transmigration] - Chapter 51
“S-sorry!”
The sharp warning caused the two girls’ faces to turn pale. Regardless of what they truly thought, they both apologized to Jiang Baihe immediately.
In the Yan family, Yan Shu was a figure who could practically “cover the sky with one hand.” The entire Sihai Group was under her control, and even their parents’ generation wouldn’t dare provoke her lightly. Now they had not only mocked Yan Shu but had been unlucky enough to be overheard by Jiang Baihe. If this matter were reported back, they likely wouldn’t have any “good fruit” to eat.
The two girls apologized repeatedly, their arrogance from a moment ago completely vanished. Jiang Baihe looked down at them, her eyes cold. Even without releasing her Alpha pheromones, the pressure radiating from her felt like a mountain hanging over their heads.
“I don’t expect to hear words like these a second time. Understand?”
“Understood, understood!”
Seeing Jiang Baihe’s indifferent expression and that she didn’t seem to want to pursue the matter further, one of the girls nodded like a chick pecking at grain, grabbed the other’s sleeve, and scrambled away from her.
Jiang Baihe crossed her arms and watched their silhouettes disappear into the crowd, letting out a disdainful snort. It wasn’t that she didn’t want to deal with them, but Yan Shu already had enough people and problems to face in the Yan family; Jiang Baihe didn’t want to create extra “aggro” for her.
With the matter settled, Jiang Baihe followed her original plan and ordered a bottle of fruit wine. While she kept her face calm, her mind was dwelling on what those two girls had said.
Pheromones don’t lie.
The fact that she and Yan Shu didn’t have a pheromone mark was indeed difficult to hide. One didn’t even need to investigate; any observant person could tell. The attraction between an Alpha and an Omega is a force of nature; it’s rare for a couple to stay together after marriage and resist marking each other.
Logically, since Jiang Baihe and Yan Shu had been together for so long and had supposedly married because of high pheromone compatibility, they should have left marks long ago. The fact that they were still in an unmarked state made it only natural for the Yan family to think they were in a fake marriage.
In reality, Yan Shu had never tried to cover this up. She knew many in the family were secretly investigating her, waiting for her condition to worsen and for her to fall from her pedestal. But so what? She openly told the entire Yan family: Yes, I am in a contract marriage. I am placing the bait out in the open—who among you is bold enough not to bite for the sake of profit?
It was a blunt approach, but very effective. Even though the Yan family members harbored a thousand secret thoughts, didn’t they still keep their mouths shut at the dinner and pretend everything was normal?
Jiang Baihe could guess some of Yan Shu’s thoughts regarding her family, but she still felt it was a shame. She wondered how much longer she’d have to wait before that pheromone mark became a reality.
It was truly a worry.
The incident earlier had wasted some of her time. When Jiang Baihe returned to the hot spring suite with the wine, she saw Yan Shu dressed in a white bathrobe, leaning against the window near the pool, watching the scenery.
Jiang Baihe: “I’m back.”
“What took you so long? Did something happen?” Yan Shu asked. Her tone was flat, but her eyes held a trace of concern.
“Nothing much, it was just crowded.” Jiang Baihe smiled and chose to gloss over the encounter, not wanting Yan Shu to worry about such trivialities. Seeing Jiang Baihe’s normal expression, Yan Shu didn’t think further on it.
The two set their things down and entered the hot spring pool. The warm water washed over their slightly cool skin, bringing an incredibly comfortable sensation.
Jiang Baihe let out a soft sigh, her entire body relaxing. Seeing Yan Shu nearby with her eyes closed and a look of pure enjoyment, Jiang Baihe felt her heart soften. There was no snow tonight, and the usually whistling winds had become exceptionally gentle. Through the half-open window, a crescent moon could be seen hanging high in the sky. The pool water shimmered, and wisps of white steam rose in curls. The moonlight, the lamps, and the steam blended together in a scene that was tender and romantic.
Jiang Baihe stole a glance at Yan Shu and found herself dazed. The warm water flowed gently, causing the belt of the bathrobe to rise and fall. The skin beneath the robe was partially visible, and the small patch of fair neck exposed at the collar looked even more tender and smooth against the water.
Jiang Baihe’s gaze was too intense. Even with her eyes closed, Yan Shu could vaguely feel it. She had thought Jiang Baihe was just taking a casual look, but the gaze showed no sign of moving away. Whether it was the hot water heating her body or the undisguised stare making her shy, Yan Shu felt her cheeks growing warm.
“What are you looking at?” After a while, Yan Shu finally couldn’t help but open her eyes and look back at Jiang Baihe.
“Ah? Oh!” Caught red-handed, Jiang Baihe stammered two nonsensical syllables before realizing what she had been doing. She gave a dry cough, her mind racing for an excuse. “Ah, I’m a bit thirsty. I brought fruit wine, do you want some?”
Yan Shu lowered her eyes. Through the misty steam, Jiang Baihe’s face also looked a bit flushed. Is the water too hot? The thought flashed briefly through Jiang Baihe’s mind as she poured two glasses of fruit wine.
The sweet and tart wine was perfect for the moment. To prevent any accidents, Jiang Baihe had ordered wine with a very low alcohol content—it was practically fruit juice. Using this as a catalyst, she and Yan Shu chatted slowly, enjoying the cozy time.
After soaking for a while, both felt a bit drowsy and prepared to leave the pool. Yan Shu stepped onto the bank first, standing by the edge to tidy her damp hair. Jiang Baihe followed slowly behind her, a plan suddenly forming in her mind.
She placed her hands on Yan Shu’s shoulders and leaned her entire body heavily against Yan Shu’s back. Sensing the touch, Yan Shu’s body stiffened slightly. “What is it?” she asked in a low voice.
“Mmm, I think I soaked too long. I’m a bit dizzy.” Jiang Baihe nuzzled Yan Shu’s shoulder, her hands wordlessly encircling Yan Shu’s waist. “Yan Yan, let me lean on you for a bit.”
Where Jiang Baihe was leaning was far too close to the gland at the back of the neck. The warm breath fanning nearby caused waves of shivers to run through Yan Shu’s body. Seeing the tips of Yan Shu’s ears turn pink and then a deep red, Jiang Baihe couldn’t help but lick her lips. Her teeth felt itchy.
She really wanted to take a bite.
She suppressed her instinctive urge and leaned there for a while. Jiang Baihe sighed internally, figuring the time was about right and any more would be overstepping, so she reluctantly released Yan Shu’s waist.
“I feel much better now.”
“Mhm. Let’s head back then.” Yan Shu stole a glance at Jiang Baihe, then quickly turned her head away and walked out of the room with hurried, slightly disorganized steps—as if a wild beast were chasing her.
Left behind, Jiang Baihe stood there rubbing her fingers, recalling that slender waist and Yan Shu’s reaction. She couldn’t help but let out a soft laugh. She followed Yan Shu unhurriedly, strolling back to the room.
Love cannot be forced. But looking at things now, it seemed it wasn’t just one-sided?
