After Differentiating into an O, Pampered by an A - Chapter 19
Kong Zhen’s expression turned serious as she thought of that video, and she quickly changed her tune.
“Wait, it wasn’t exactly being bullied… Ugh, just look for yourself!”
Hearing this, Shen Yushu’s voice remained cool and unhurried. “I’ve said it before, there is nothing between Ye Xing and me. Calling her my ‘little lover’—are you looking to receive a lawyer’s letter from the Shen Group?”
Kong Zhen gave a cold snort, too lazy to argue. She muttered to herself that it wasn’t like only the Shen family had lawyers, especially since she was the one who had just received a death threat.
After hanging up, Shen Yushu calmly opened her WeChat. Her gaze fell on the leak post Kong Zhen had sent. Perhaps knowing that Shen Yushu likely wouldn’t click the link, Kong Zhen had screenshotted the images and sent them directly.
Shen Yushu looked at the woman in the photo. Her long hair was a mess as she sat on the floor, her face turned away so her expression couldn’t be seen. Faced with a man’s towering rage, she looked frail and pitiful.
With just one glance, Shen Yushu recognized the woman as Ye Xing. The wrinkles in her champagne-colored dress looked like fallen petals scattered on the ground, covered in dust—it was a sight that evoked instinctive pity.
Shen Yushu narrowed her “peach-blossom” eyes and clicked on the post. She watched the video from start to finish, her face remaining entirely devoid of emotion. Having no interest in entertainment news, she put her phone away, called the Vice President back in, and returned her focus to work.
Twilight descended, and a few stars hung in the sky.
Because of her guilt, Ye Xing hadn’t gone home to rest. Instead, she stayed at the company to help Ding Ling manage the PR for that new anonymous post.
After investigation, it was confirmed that the poster was an Omega staff member at the scene. She had previously been harassed by Li Guan but hadn’t dared to speak out due to the director’s power and position. Seeing Ye Xing rescue Fei’en, she had tremblingly recorded that video. Once the initial heat of the scandal died down, she posted it as a form of revenge against Li Guan.
The photos would have been fine on their own, but she had captured the exact moment Ye Xing violently smashed the door. Although it was only a sharp, cool view of her back, it still kept Ding Ling and the PR team busy for quite a while. Fortunately, the situation was settled and the staff member deleted the post. Otherwise, sharp-eyed netizens would have surely figured out the “door-smasher” was Ye Xing, and if Li Guan exploited that, it would only lead to more trouble.
Once the follow-up was handled, Ding Ling and Ning Youyou drove Ye Xing back to Jiangting. Ding Ling was on the phone the entire way.
“Sister Ling, I’m sorry for causing you so much trouble.” Ye Xing finally found a gap to speak.
To her surprise, Ding Ling looked at her as if she’d lost her mind. “Did I hear that right?” she asked, her brow furrowed.
One must remember that during Ye Xing’s peak, she was the definition of reckless and willful. Compared to her past scandals, today’s trouble was practically nothing. Ding Ling’s gaze swept over Ye Xing; she felt that the girl was different from before, and it made her feel gratified.
“Ye Xing, it’s nothing. I could tell that Director Li was a piece of work at dinner last time. It’s for the best; if you’d actually gone on his show, he definitely would have harassed you, and the collaboration wouldn’t have lasted anyway.”
Seeing the smile on Ding Ling’s face, Ye Xing blinked her long lashes and nodded obediently. “Mm. So, Sister Ling, are we officially out of work now?”
Ding Ling raised an eyebrow, full of confidence. “How is that possible? I’m a manager who has made many artists famous. Don’t worry, I refuse to believe a face as beautiful as yours won’t have a ‘Client Papa’ come knocking soon.”
Ye Xing: “…”
The atmosphere in the car lightened up. Half an hour later, the car stopped at the B2 elevator entrance. Ye Xing watched the red taillights depart, let out a long sigh, and turned toward the elevator.
Suddenly, a hand as white as jade blocked the elevator door. Ye Xing looked up into a pair of shimmering, beautiful light-brown pupils.
“Sister, you’re off work!”
Seeing Ye Xing, Shen Yushu gave a polite nod. Knowing Shen Yushu carried a high-cold aura, Ye Xing stepped back to give her more space. The elevator rose slowly; neither spoke.
Standing behind Shen Yushu, Ye Xing noticed that the woman looked exactly the same as she did when she left this morning—even her hair looked perfectly exquisite. Ye Xing then looked down at her own simple, casual athletic wear and couldn’t help but feel a pang of regret for the beautiful new dress she’d ruined at the set today.
Just as she was mourning her dress…
Ding—
They reached their floor. Shen Yushu stepped out in her heels. Ye Xing followed closely, but she’d only just set one foot out when Shen Yushu suddenly stopped.
“What’s—”
Before Ye Xing could finish, she was suddenly pushed back into the elevator by Shen Yushu.
“What are you doing?” A bewildered Ye Xing knit her brows.
The next second, a soft, warm palm was suddenly pressed over her red lips. The faint scent of white tea mixed with rose fragrance instantly filled her nose.
“Don’t make a sound. Shen Xiaoqian is here,” Shen Yushu whispered sharply.
Ye Xing was pinned against the elevator wall, a hint of shock in the corners of her eyes. But after hearing it was Shen Xiaoqian, she regained her composure. She reached up, her slender arm catching Shen Yushu’s warm, white wrist, and pulled the hand away.
“If someone sees us like this, they’ll misunderstand.”
“Stop talking. You aren’t the one being harassed with three calls a day, chasing me for your autographed photos.”
At the mention of this, Ye Xing remembered. Last time, she had intended to sign other photos for Shen Xiaoqian, but Shen Yushu had flatly refused and made her sign those “Study Hard” notebooks instead. Any fan receiving those would be depressed.
Today was Friday, and school was out. Shen Xiaoqian had seen the leak post online and thought the woman in the photo looked a lot like Ye Xing. She had stopped by Jiangting to ask her aunt for confirmation, since her aunt seemed more familiar with Ye Xing than she’d imagined. Little did she know that even this late, Shen Yushu wasn’t home.
Shen Xiaoqian was wearing a lotus-pink dress, leaning against the door and swinging her legs. Suddenly, she heard a rustle at the elevator, but when she went to look, the elevator arrow was already flashing downward.
Shen Yushu eventually decided to have the family driver come and pick Shen Xiaoqian up. Before that, she dragged Ye Xing out of the building. Thin clouds veiled the moonlight, making the night hazy.
Even though she was a “flop,” Ye Xing was still afraid of being photographed. She pulled a mask from her bag to put on, then glanced at Shen Yushu and pulled out a fresh one.
She handed it over. “Sister, put this on! Safety first.”
Shen Yushu’s eyes flickered with a hint of disdain, and she instinctively moved to refuse, but Ye Xing didn’t give her a choice. Holding her shoulders, Ye Xing tucked the stray hairs behind Shen Yushu’s ears and hooked the elastic loops over her small, exquisite ears with her fair fingertips.
During the process, her fingertips accidentally brushed against Shen Yushu’s soft, pale earlobe. Shen Yushu’s body stiffened almost imperceptibly. Her calm eyes suddenly rippled, the gaze growing deeper.
In the orange-yellow light of the streetlamps, those beautiful ears turned from pink to a deep red.
Ye Xing didn’t notice. After helping her with the mask, she realized Shen Yushu was standing there in a daze, unmoving. She stepped back. With the mask covering two-thirds of Shen Yushu’s face, Ye Xing’s gaze swept over her small, shell-like ears. They were now so red they looked like they might bleed.
Ye Xing raised an eyebrow. After a moment, her lips curled into a grin, and she teased:
“What? Are you actually blushing?”
