The Cannon Fodder Female Supporting Character Alpha Decides to Go On Strike (GL) - Chapter 12
Shen Zhong asked Su Li about her family background as a matter of routine, and Su Li answered courteously.
The Su family was considered a reputable family in City A, but they were no match for the Shen family. Shen Zhong’s expression showed a trace of disdain. He didn’t look at Su Li, but after cleaning his fishing rod, he handed it to the old butler: “Put this away.”
Then, he stood up and left: “I’m going to change my clothes.”
Zhou Muxin had a smug smile on her face and left with the bratty child. Before leaving, she glanced meaningfully at Su Li and Shen Mo.
Su Li leaned back on the sofa, looking at Shen Mo’s profile and tentatively asked: “Your dad doesn’t seem very satisfied with me.”
“Don’t worry about him,” Shen Mo turned to meet her gaze. “You are marrying me. You don’t need to care about anyone else’s opinion.
“If you don’t like him either, we won’t come back here again.”
Su Li was a little surprised: “We can not come back?”
Shen Mo nodded: “Mhm.”
Just as Su Li was about to say something else, she suddenly stood up.
“I haven’t properly toured this castle yet,” she looked at Shen Mo and asked, “Can you show me around?”
Shen Mo replied “Okay,” and led her out of the living room to stroll around the estate.
The Shen family was tremendously wealthy. The residence truly resembled a medieval aristocratic castle, featuring not only four independent buildings but also a vast fountain garden in the center. Its luxury was astonishing.
There was a broken swing set under a large tree by the hot spring. Its dilapidated appearance clashed with the surrounding luxurious scenery, yet it made Shen Mo stop.
She told Su Li: “An uncle who was a gardener made this for me when I was little.”
Su Li walked over, looking at the ropes that were clearly cut: “How did it get broken?”
“Shen Mingzhu did it,” Shen Mo looked at the frayed ends. “It was repaired a few times, but he would intentionally ruin it every time.
“I came back less and less often, so eventually, I just let it be.”
Su Li looked up. From her angle, she could only see Shen Mo’s slightly trembling, lowered eyelashes.
The sun was getting higher. After walking around the outdoor garden for over half an hour, both of them had broken a light sweat.
Seeing that time was getting late, Shen Mo took Su Li back to her room.
The items in the room were impeccably arranged. A full bookshelf of books was organized by the depth of their cover colors, orderly and proper, just like the room’s owner.
Su Li walked to the bookshelf and gently ran her finger across it, accumulating a thin layer of dust on her fingertip.
Shen Mo opened the window on the other side to air out the room. A breeze blew in, stirring the loose hair on Su Li’s cheek.
She turned to look, and Shen Mo’s figure, backlit by the sun, was a dark silhouette.
There was silence between them. Su Li looked down and noticed that the book on the shelf directly facing her was Crime and Punishment, with a red cover.
Shen Mo took two steps closer to her and asked: “You just…”
“I overheard Zhou Muxin and Shen Mingzhu talking near the stairs,” Su Li left the bookshelf and walked towards her. “Zhou Muxin suspects that we aren’t a real couple.”
Shen Mo blinked.
Su Li stopped in front of her, stroking a lock of hair over Shen Mo’s shoulder: “Why do you think she would think that?”
Shen Mo shook her head: “I’m not good at guessing what fools think.”
Su Li secretly sighed and answered: “Our acquaintance and romance all feel too rushed.”
Shen Mo leaned in her direction.
She looked into Su Li’s eyes, small star-like lights twinkling in her depths: “But I just like efficient methods.”
Su Li was stunned.
Her hand traced down Shen Mo’s long hair and settled on her back: “Are you sure you’re ready?”
“Su Li?” Shen Mo tilted her head slightly.
Su Li moved closer, gently bending and resting her chin on Shen Mo’s shoulder.
This posture was very intimate. She had completely encompassed Shen Mo in her embrace.
“Shen Mo… have you thought about our life after marriage?”
Shen Mo’s body stiffened and she didn’t reply.
Where Su Li couldn’t see, her cheeks were flushing.
Su Li wasn’t annoyed. She leaned close to Shen Mo’s ear and talked about the future: “After becoming partners, two people will be intimate and inseparable.
“Hugging and being close like this is just the most basic thing.”
Shen Mo’s rigid body seemed to tremble slightly, and then Su Li heard her utter a barely audible “Mhm.”
Su Li’s gaze grew deeper.
She admitted she was testing Shen Mo.
If Shen Mo truly saw her as an instrument to seize family assets, as Zhou Muxin claimed, she would inevitably be disgusted by such behavior.
“Is this too much for you already?” Su Li asked.
The hand on Shen Mo’s back pressed down, completely eliminating the distance between them.
“Su Li?!” Shen Mo’s voice held a trace of panic. Her hands were pressed against Su Li’s shoulders, but she couldn’t exert much force.
The soft bed was right next to them. Su Li held her, twisted sideways, and the two tumbled onto the bed.
She flipped over, hovering above Shen Mo.
Shen Mo pursed her lips, looking somewhat serious.
Su Li wasn’t sure if she was upset. She reached out and covered Shen Mo’s face, her thumb landing exactly on Shen Mo’s lips.
Shen Mo happened to open her mouth to say something, and her extended tongue accidentally touched Su Li’s thumb, making her quickly retract it in alarm.
Su Li raised her hand to look. Besides the bright red lipstick, there was a trace of crystal moisture on her fingertip.
She casually smeared the trace onto Shen Mo’s nose.
Shen Mo’s star-like eyes were lost in thought, quietly gazing at her.
The quiet room was thick with the scent of books. The cool beauty lying below her would not resist. The strong contrast made Su Li’s heart race.
“Has anyone ever done something like this to you?”
Shen Mo shook her head.
She looked a little nervous, her hands at her sides already clenched into fists.
Su Li curved her lips, leaned down, and kissed her on the mouth with satisfaction.
Shen Mo froze completely.
“Relax a little,” Su Li’s hand traced down her arm, opened her fingers to hold Shen Mo’s fist, and gradually dismantled her defense until their fingers were intertwined.
She rubbed her nose against Shen Mo’s: “It’s not as difficult as you think.”
Shen Mo seemed to finally realize what was happening, opening her mouth to breathe in large gasps.
When Su Li lowered her head to kiss her, Shen Mo turned her head slightly, causing the kiss to land on her cheek.
A rustling sound came from outside the window. Su Li looked sideways and saw the shadow of the person projected onto the beige carpet by the sunlight.
The person had a neat bun and was Zhou Muxin, whom they had just seen in the living room.
Shen Mo also noticed, whispering a reminder: “Someone’s there.”
The next moment, Su Li cupped her chin.
Before Shen Mo could react, she lowered her head, accurately captured her lips, and kissed her repeatedly.
“Mmh!” Shen Mo’s resistance was very weak. Gradually, the hands pressed against Su Li’s shoulders instead wrapped around her neck, pulling Su Li towards herself forcefully.
Su Li smelled the faint, cool fragrance on her.
Shen Mo was very strange. She looked aloof, but the temperature inside her mouth was scalding. Su Li didn’t dare to go deeper. Her tongue lightly outlined Shen Mo’s pearly white teeth, teasing Shen Mo into initiating a tongue lock.
The inside was soft and warm, yet her body was stiff, as if resisting an invasion.
The shadow outside the window slowly moved backward, eventually turning and completely leaving.
Su Li drew a gasping breath and sat up. Looking at the disheveled Shen Mo on the bed, she reached out and helped hook the slipped shoulder strap back up.
Her fingertips accidentally touched Shen Mo’s skin, and she could feel the person beneath her trembling faintly.
Suddenly, a knock sounded on the door.
A servant announced from outside that the master was ready and asked the two young ladies to come down for a meal.
Su Li held Shen Mo’s hand and helped her sit up from the bed.
She looked at the lips that had been ravaged by her and smiled: “You’ll need to reapply your makeup.”
Shen Mo wiped away the saliva on the corner of her lips.
Su Li also needed to tidy up and moved from the bed to the nearby dressing table.
She was no better off than Shen Mo in the mirror. Her lips were slightly swollen, most of her lipstick was gone, and some was smeared around her mouth.
She was in a good mood, humming a tune as she meticulously fixed herself up.
The two returned to the main building and had a meal with Shen Zhong.
There were five people at the dining table, and apart from the bratty child, hardly anyone spoke. The meal was consumed in a stifled atmosphere.
Su Li placed a piece of fish on Shen Mo’s plate, drawing attention from the others.
She ignored them, simply saying: “I remember you like this.”
Shen Mo replied softly: “Mhm.”
After eating, Shen Zhong asked them to speak in the study.
The study was on the second floor. Before going up, Shen Mo stood at the bottom of the stairs to check Su Li’s outfit.
Su Li looked at her, her face flushing again: “Is it good enough?”
Shen Mo smoothed out the creases on her collar.
She looked up at Su Li: “Do you want to secure the cooperation deal between Su Corp and S.G.?”
Su Li didn’t know why she suddenly brought this up, but she still nodded honestly.
She naturally wanted both her wife and the business deal.
“The opportunity is here,” Shen Mo said. “Put on a good performance later.”
