The Cannon Fodder Female Supporting Character Alpha Decides to Go On Strike (GL) - Chapter 18
As she walked down the red carpet holding Shen Mo’s hand, Su Li felt somewhat dazed.
She tried hard to steady herself and suddenly realized Shen Mo’s fingers were cool, so she opened her hand and completely enveloped the other’s soft hand in her palm.
The next moment, the guests observing the ceremony let out good-natured jeers and laughter.
Su Li’s face flushed. She instinctively turned her head to look at Shen Mo.
Shen Mo was wearing a heavy, glittering silver-white wedding dress. Her delicate face was obscured by a semi-transparent veil, making her expression unclear.
But the instant Su Li looked over, Shen Mo happened to turn her head to look back.
Their gazes met in the air through a layer of haze.
Su Li felt a scratch deep in her heart, like a cat’s paw. She quickly looked straight ahead, using deep breaths to adjust her chaotic heartbeat.
But physiological reactions couldn’t be concealed. No matter how well she managed her expression, her flushed ears and slightly sweaty palms completely betrayed her.
“The ceremony hasn’t even started, why is your face so red?” her mother teased, asking.
Su Li quickly glanced at Shen Mo.
She let out a sigh of relief, grateful that the veil meant the other person probably couldn’t see her embarrassment, and then whined to her mother: “I’m not…”
Su Mu didn’t argue, happily helping the couple adjust the train of the wedding dress.
When the first phase of the ceremony ended, Su Li had to leave Shen Mo to greet guests in the main hall.
Before leaving, she saw a bottle of mineral water nearby and thoughtfully picked one up, bringing it to Shen Mo: “Thirsty? Have some water.”
Shen Mo sat upright in the Nanmu chair and shook her head.
She countered, advising: “You drink some. The guests at the wedding are all people we know, so don’t be too nervous.”
Su Li’s throat was indeed dry. Hearing this, she twisted the cap off and tilted her head back for a sip. After wiping her mouth, she mumbled defensively: “…I’m not nervous.”
“Is that so?” Shen Mo tilted her head slightly, her voice clear and innocent. “Your palm was sweating. It felt damp the whole way.”
Su Li heard this, and her face, which had already cooled down, quickly burned up again.
She frantically glanced left and right, grabbing a pack of tissues and roughly wiping her hands: “I’m, I’m sorry… I didn’t notice. I must have offended you…”
Shen Mo got up and walked to her side.
She didn’t speak. She just took a new tissue, separated Su Li’s hands, and meticulously cleaned the sweat from between her fingers.
Su Li looked down at her. Her view was filled only with the hazy white veil.
She cleared her throat: “Thank you…”
After cleaning her hands, Shen Mo discarded the tissue but didn’t let go of her hand.
Su Li involuntarily gripped her fingers: “Your hand is a bit cold.” She touched the white veil on Shen Mo’s face: “Is the hotel air conditioning too low?”
Shen Mo shook her head. The white veil and fragmented diamond tassels swayed slightly, emitting a soft “shh-shh” sound.
She added: “No need to apologize. You didn’t offend me.”
Su Li quietly said, “Mhm.”
The topic ended, and the atmosphere became awkward.
Su Li released Shen Mo and turned to walk out. When she reached the door, she couldn’t help but look back one more time: “I’m heading out first. See you later, see you later.”
“Okay,” Shen Mo nodded.
She casually picked up the bottle of mineral water Su Li had just been drinking from. After twisting the cap off, she naturally tilted her head back and took a small sip.
Su Li gripped the door frame, extended her tongue to lick the corner of her lips, and took two deep breaths before finally gaining the strength to walk out the door.
Everything that followed went exceptionally smoothly.
The banquet was filled with joy, and the wedding ceremony proceeded as planned. Su Li placed the newly customized wedding ring on Shen Mo’s finger with everyone watching.
The new ring fit perfectly. After being slipped onto Shen Mo’s left ring finger, it was firmly fixed, as if it had grown there naturally, vastly different from the one used for the hasty proposal.
Su Li gently rubbed the diamond with her thumb. She only snapped back to attention when reminded by the officiant, letting go of Shen Mo’s hand with a blush.
The officiant smoothed things over for her: “Miss Su must be overly happy! Anyone marrying a fairy-like bride like Miss Shen would feel unreal, right?”
Su Li nodded very seriously: “Mhm.”
The cheers from below rose higher and higher. Shen Mo held the bouquet in her arms and looked up at her.
Afterward, Su Li led Shen Mo through the banquet, making toasts and exchanging greetings with guests.
She drank a lot of alcohol, but managed to intercept most of the drinks for Shen Mo, preventing anyone from troubling her bride. After completing the round, she, smelling strongly of alcohol, and the still elegant and immaculate Shen Mo returned to the presidential suite they had booked.
In the room, the two were lost in passion and tangled in an embrace.
Su Li held Shen Mo’s lips in her mouth, feeling every tremor of the soft body beneath her palm. For several moments, she was soberly aware that she wanted to utterly consume Shen Mo, to fully taint this detestable woman, who only calculated her as a business deal, with her own scent, inside and out.
Mark Shen Mo!
Completely mark Shen Mo!
But at the crucial moment, an urgent knocking interrupted everything.
The recollection ended there.
The alcohol had largely worn off. Su Li leaned against the door frame, staring at Qiao Mumu.
She seemed to be patiently listening to Qiao Mumu recount the incident, but her mind had already wandered—Su Li didn’t know whether she should be grateful to or resent Qiao Mumu. After all, if Qiao Mumu hadn’t suddenly appeared, she, having lost control, might have directly marked Shen Mo in the bridal suite.
She had constantly reminded herself not to overstep before the wedding, yet at the critical moment, she had failed so spectacularly!
Was Shen Mo the type of person she should harbor such desires for?
Su Li, you are an animal!
“Su Zong? Su Li?” Qiao Mumu looked at her with hazy, tear-filled eyes. “Are you, are you listening to me?”
“Uh, oh,” Su Li snapped back.
She rubbed her temples: “You’re saying that a guest asked you to hold a gift, and then you immediately lost it?”
Qiao Mumu nodded: “Wuwu, yes. She, she was taking her child to the nursing room. I, I was just trying to be helpful, but, but now someone is turning it against me…”
“…” Su Li was too tired to criticize her logic.
She asked: “Did you check the security footage? The hotel has been completely booked out. It’s impossible for there to be a theft. Perhaps you accidentally forgot it somewhere. You might remember if you check the footage.”
Qiao Mumu shook her head pitifully: “I, I didn’t…”
Su Li took a deep breath, suppressing her impatience: “Then go now.”
Qiao Mumu heard this and immediately grabbed her hand: “Su, Su Li, please come with me, okay?”
She tried to look pathetic: “That person is very fierce. If I go down, she’ll keep scolding me. I’ll feel much more confident if you’re with me.”
Su Li frowned and shook off her hand.
She stared intently at Qiao Mumu: “The fact that I am standing here talking to you calmly is already a courtesy, Qiao Mumu.
“Do you know what day it is?!”
“It’s just checking the surveillance footage!” Qiao Mumu’s voice also became shrill. “You’re already married to her. What’s wrong with helping me?”
She glanced at the gap in the door behind Su Li: “Is she restraining you, not letting you go? Su Li… that President Shen is mean, I don’t like her…”
Rage surged in Su Li. Just as she was about to speak, the door behind her suddenly opened.
She turned back in surprise and saw Shen Mo, wearing a bathrobe, standing in the doorway.
Shen Mo’s hair was still slightly messy. The slightly open collar of her bathrobe revealed her milky white skin. It was unclear how many layers of clothing she had on underneath.
Su Li immediately blocked her: “Why did you come out?”
Shen Mo pressed her arm, looking past her at Qiao Mumu.
Qiao Mumu was somewhat afraid of her. That 620,000 yuan bill had caused her considerable trouble.
Seeing Shen Mo now, she straightened her neck and pretended to be calm: “What, what are you looking at me for?”
Shen Mo asked in a low voice: “Is something the matter with you?”
“I came to find Su Li,” Qiao Mumu puffed out her cheeks. “It’s none of your business!”
Shen Mo sneered softly.
She declared to Qiao Mumu: “We are legally married partners. Her business…”
She paused here, then reached out and grabbed the hem of Su Li’s dress: “…is my business.”
Su Li looked down at her upon hearing this.
Her ears were tingling. She couldn’t describe the exact feeling, but her lips were stubbornly trying to curve into a smile.
“You, you really think highly of yourself, don’t you?!” Qiao Mumu’s eyes widened. She pointed at Shen Mo and shouted, “You are you, and Su Li is Su Li! Don’t think you can control Su Li!”
Saying this, she grabbed Su Li’s other hand: “Su Li, come with me!”
“Enough!”
Su Li forcefully shook off her hand.
She patted the spot Qiao Mumu had touched, disgusted: “If you don’t leave immediately, I will call security.”
“…Su Li?” Qiao Mumu stared at her blankly. “You, you’re siding with her?”
Su Li couldn’t take it anymore. She put her arm around Shen Mo and prepared to go back inside.
Behind them, Qiao Mumu yelled, collapsing: “Did everything you ever said about liking me, about loving me, turn out to be a lie?!
“Su Li, wuwu, you fooled me so badly… Su Li…”
Shen Mo frowned, looking at her.
Su Li’s movements froze. She gritted her teeth and turned around: “If you continue to talk nonsense, don’t blame me for being rude!”
Not far away, the elevator doors automatically opened, and over a dozen people rushed out, heading straight for the scene.
Su Li’s brow furrowed. She immediately shielded Shen Mo behind her, preventing her from being exposed in her bathrobe.
“President Shen, President Shen,” Shen Mo’s assistant, Yu Shengxiao, arrived, panting heavily.
She grabbed Qiao Mumu: “Please come with us immediately!”
“Let go of me!” Qiao Mumu screamed uncontrollably.
She glared at Su Li: “Su Li, dare you say you never confessed to me? Dare you say you never liked me or persistently pursued me?
“Can you deny everything in the past just because you’re married now?!”
Everyone present, including the security personnel who had come up to maintain order, froze on the spot.
Su Li narrowed her eyes.
“You, you were clearly, clearly not like this before…” Qiao Mumu covered her face and broke down crying. “Why, why did you change so quickly?”
Yu Shengxiao pushed the security guard next to her: “What are you staring at? Take her and let’s go now!”
The security guards snapped out of it, and two of them stepped forward, lifting Qiao Mumu one on each side.
Qiao Mumu screamed and shouted, her eyes fixed on Su Li.
Su Li sighed.
She took a step forward, then suddenly felt Shen Mo tugging at her waistband from behind.
She turned around, wanting to comfort her first, but touching the back of Shen Mo’s hand, she found that her hands were terrifyingly cold.
“Ahem,” Su Li cleared her throat and chose to finish this quickly: “You’re right. I did confess to you before.”
A look of joy appeared on Qiao Mumu’s face, and the expressions of the onlookers became subtle.
“But, Qiao Mumu, did you forget?” Su Li looked at her. “You personally rejected me. You were the one who pushed me away, wasn’t it?”
Qiao Mumu rushed to defend herself: “But, but…”
Her tongue tied: “Just because I rejected you, do, do you have to go marry someone else?”
Su Li: “What else?”
Qiao Mumu was incredibly naive: “I, I don’t mind you getting married. I just hope you still treat me as well as you used to!”
“Tch,” Su Li sneered, shaking her head. “I’m sorry, that’s impossible.”
With that, she no longer hesitated, ushered Shen Mo into the room, and closed the door with a bang.
In the corridor, Yu Shengxiao recovered.
“You really have some nerve.”
Qiao Mumu glared at her fiercely: “How dare you talk to me like that?!”
“Not only will I scold you, but I will also fire you,” Yu Shengxiao noted the action professionally in her phone memo.
Qiao Mumu was stunned: “You, you’re not even from Su Corp…”
“I am President Shen’s Special Assistant,” Yu Shengxiao motioned for the security guards to move.
She passed in front of Qiao Mumu, glancing at her disdainfully, and countered arrogantly: “Do you want to bet on whether our President Shen can pull it off?”
The group rushed up quickly and then swiftly left with Qiao Mumu in tow. The top floor finally returned to silence.
Su Li leaned against the door, listening to the end of the drama, and let out a long sigh of relief.
Just as she was about to move, a warm body leaned against her back.
Shen Mo pressed against her, her bare arms wrapping around Su Li’s waist from the front.
She rubbed against Su Li’s shoulder, her breath soft as orchids.
“You liked her?”
Su Li’s mouth was dry: “A long, long time ago.”
“Oh,” Shen Mo hugged her tighter, her beautiful curves flattening against Su Li’s back.
Her hand casually played with the knot of Su Li’s waist-tie, and she muffled a final complaint: “…Bad taste.”
